A throw fails in one of two ways. Too small, and it sits on the furniture like a napkin. Too large, and it pools on the floor. The difference between the two is roughly 30 cm.

The two sizes

Ingi Studio weaves the Monolith in two dimensions. 150 × 200 cm covers a sofa, a single bed, or one body. 200 × 230 cm covers a double or king bed with drape on both sides, or two bodies on a sofa.

Against a sofa

A standard three-seat sofa measures 200 to 220 cm wide. At 150 × 200 cm the throw covers the seat and one arm, or drapes across the back. At 200 × 230 cm it covers the full seat with fall on both sides. For a two-seat sofa, 150 × 200 cm is the correct size.

Against a bed

A single mattress measures 90 × 200 cm. A double measures 140 × 200 cm. A king measures 180 × 200 cm. A throw laid across the foot of the bed needs to exceed the mattress width by 40 cm for the fall to read as intentional. 150 × 200 cm suits a single. 200 × 230 cm suits a double or king.

Why weight changes the answer

Coverage is only half the calculation. A light cloth of the same dimensions will lift and slide. At 300 g/m² and 1.5 kg, the Monolith holds its fold and stays where it is placed. Size determines reach. Weight determines whether the drape survives the evening.
